It’s not exactly the “Amazing Race,” but next Friday teams will compete for a worthier cause than collecting $1 million for the winning team.
“As part of our commitment to our “Buy Local-Give Back” initiative, Land Title’s statewide Food Drive begins Oct. 12 to Dec. 11 and Front Range office donations will benefit Food Bank of the Rockies, and our other Land Title offices and employees will support seven other Colorado food banks,” said John Freyer, president of Land Title. (Land Title is a co-sponsor of InsideRealEstateNews.com.
As the sun is starting to rise next Friday, 11 Land Title teams with 33 members will have mere minutes to decorate their shopping carts in the ground level east parking lot of American National Bank, 3033 First Ave.
Then, they will have a mad dash for a 15-minute shopping spree in the Cherry Creek Safeway at First Avenue and Steele Street. The team members will use $200 Safeway gift cards purchased by Land Title to nab items on the Food Bank of the Rockies’ wish list.
Safeway Foundation is contributing $1,000 to Food Bank of the Rockies and Safeway will provide free coffee and doughnuts for the bleary-eyed public who are invited to attend and make contributions.
“Given the current state of the economy, need is at an all-time high,” said Kevin Seggelke, president of Food Bank of the Rockies. “Our partner agencies are experiencing an average of 30% increase in people walking through their doors for food assistance. Every $1 donated equates to four meals or over five pounds of food, so a little bit goes a long way. Assistance from companies like Land Title and Safeway is vital to our mission of fighting hunger and feeding hope. Their contributions on Oct. 9th will provide over 9,000 meals to our neighbors in need.”
Freyer, president of Land Title, said that “Community involvement is our corporate culture.”
During the past decade, Land Title and its principals have donated time and resources to more than 1,500 charities and events, he said.
“Our statewide food drive presents this side of our culture to the community and partner with our clients to make a difference,” Freyer added.

You did us a great service, John, in helping us get news out about Land Title's food drive that goes through mid-December and benefits food banks all over Colorado. Demand at all food banks is up 30% and that ties into our dire economy. Over 50% of those in need are households with chidren under age 18. On the 1st day, Land Title's Cherry Creek office alone donated over 1500 pounds of food–the equivalent of 1200 meals! (http://www.ltgc.com) Carol Piaseczny, APR
