That is a 17.7 percent quarter-to-quarter drop. It also is the largest drop in vacancy rates from the second to third quarter since at least 2001. Vacancy rates are now at the lowest rate since the third quarter of last year, when they stood at 6.5 percent. In other words, vacancy rates are still 13.85 percent higher than they were a year ago.
