They are “homes with elbow room” on large, premium lots that were initially going to accommodate $1 million homes, but instead will be used for homes costing half or less that amount.
Denver-based New Town Builders decided to better meet the market, is offering more affordable homes on large lots at Tallyn’s Reach in Aurora near E-470 and Smoky Hill Road. The homes range in size from 2,625 square feet to 3,258 square feet.
Solar standard at New Town
New Town, which prides itself on sustainable building practices and home features, is offering models priced from $400,000 to $500,000 on the over-sized lots, which are up to three quarters of an acre. And talks about green, some of the parcels have mature pine trees. Each home also includes a 2.7 kW solar photovoltaic system. In addition to solar panels, all New Town homes are Energy Star-rated.
“These properties were originally intended for million-dollar homes,” said Gene Myers, chief executive officer of New Town Builders. “But when we explored the development we saw immediately that we could fill the demand among middle-income homebuyers from the city who want a more rural atmosphere. We call them $400,000 homes on million-dollar sites.”
New Town acquired the rights to the lots in a joint venture with Carma Colorado, the developer of Tallyn’s Reach.
Tallyn’s Reach provides
Visitors have described them as “homes with elbow room.” Tallyn’s Reach itself has plenty of elbow room with a 10-acre park, walking trails, a plaza for picnics, and stunning view of Front Range mountains. Tallyns’ Reach includes more than 200 acres of open space. A Craftsman-style community center called “Homestead,” is a gathering place for residents. On the drawing board: A six-lane swimming pool and interactive water park. Tallyn’s Reach is in the Cherry Creek School District.
Tallyn’s Reach is about 30 minutes from downtown Denver and 20 minutes to the Denver International Airport. New Town models are open from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays and Mondays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday through Saturday.
