Officials from Commerce City, King Soopers and Shea Properties will host a ceremony on Tuesday to officially break ground Tuesday on the 123,000-square-foot King Soopers Marketplace, which will create about 550 construction and permanent jobs.
The store will anchor Shea Properties’ 22-acre Reunion Marketplace Center.
The second concept store of its kind in the metro area and the fourth statewide, the Marketplace features grocery products, household goods, including furniture, jewelry, and specialty prepared food.
Commerce City’s incentive program allowed Shea Properties and King Soopers to move forward with development of this project sooner than originally projected.
The store will generate at least 300 construction jobs and employ 250 individuals when it open in the fall of 2012.
