This Friday, volunteers from Universal Lending will make some kids at Children’s Hospital very happy.
What will bring smiles to the faces of those at the Children’s Hospital Medical Day Treatment center in Aurora is the annual “Holiday Hugs” sponsored by the Universal Lending Foundation. This will be the 13th annual holiday adoption program sponsored by the foundation, This is not just about a corporation writing an annual donation check. Rather, this is an employee-driven effort, with staff and friends coming together for a cause. Universal Lending employees in partnership with families, friends, and business partners volunteer their time and energy to bring the holidays home for these ill children and their families.
Through combined efforts, Universal Lending employees and volunteers create holiday cheer for families struggling with the day-to-day reality of caring for a chronically ill child. Each family will receive a huge box of goodies containing gifts for each patient, their siblings, and gift cards to help their parents with the everyday needs of families.
Volunteers at Universal Lending go shopping for a family, so if there is a family with one patient and three siblings, two employees shop for that family if they choose. Employees who volunteer to shop have approximately two weeks to shop.
Employees gathered to wrap gifts last Friday at Universal Lending’s corporate offices. This Friday, they will show up at the Children’s Hospital Medical Day Treatment center, decorate, provide refreshments, and experience the joy as young patients and their families enjoy a true holiday celebration.
