The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $103790 to the state’s Department of Regulatory Agencies. The HUD award is to be used to increase public awareness of fair housing rights and responsibilities, said Steven Chavez, director of the Colorado Civil Rights Division.
HUD awarded DORA this grant after considering applicants nationwide. The CCRD, in partnership with the National Fair Housing Alliance will launch a series of Public Service Announcements in television, radio, and print media across the state to bring awareness to civil rights laws and how they protect consumers and businesses. This is the division’s first ever mass media outreach campaign in Colorado.
Chavez and his staff hope the PSAs will greatly increase the visibility of the division and the NFHA statewide, informing thousands of consumers about fair housing.
The Colorado Civil Rights Division is a state agency within DORA that enforces state anti-discrimination laws in the areas of housing, employment, and places of public accommodation.
