Denver developer Karen Blumenstein has been awarded a 2013 Women of Influence Award by the Denver chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women, or CREW.
The CREW Denver Women of Influence Awards recognize women from key segments of the commercial real estate industry.
Blumenstein, who holds a law degree, received the “Dealmaker” award, which is presented to a woman who has extraordinary communication skills to negotiate the best deal for a project and the client.
Blumenstein, who founded Flower & Stone Ltd. in 2012, was awarded for her work over the past year, including her role for the development of the Cabela’s, which opened recently in the Grove in Thornton.
The Grove is a 63-acre retail center that broke ground last year at 144th Avenue and Interstate 25 along the city’s North Washington Corridor. The grove is anchored by the 90,000-square-foot Cabela’s.
Blumenstein has led the development on a number of commercial real estate projects including power centers and grocery anchored shopping centers anchored by national tenants such as Cabela’’s, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target and Kohl’s.
She has served as the key decision maker responsible for all aspects of the land development process and has earned a “stellar reputation for creative financing structures and public private partnerships,” according to CREW.
Blumenstein’s most recent project is a new ground up retail center in Kalispell, Montana, anchored by a Cabela’s. It opens next month.
Prior to creating Flower & Stone about a year ago, Blumenstein was a developer with THF Realty Inc.
She has been nominated for CREW Denver’s Woman of Influence Award in 2009, 2010, 2011 and was a 2012 Denver Business Journal Power Book finalist. The Power Book is an analysis of business leaders by the DBJ.
