Citizens and community groups will have the opportunity this Thursday to attend the first of five meetings to discuss the upcoming five-year housing plan for the City and County of Denver.

Public input will be sought on a draft housing plan shared at the meetings by the Denver Office of Economic Development, which is hosting the meetings.

The housing plan will address the full range of housing needs facing the city, including affordable housing for very low and low-income populations, workforce housing, and programs supporting first-time buyers.

The Denver Office of Economic Development is drafting the plan with direction and review from the Mayor’s Housing Advisory Committee, which convened in 2013.

Additionally, the plan will be guided by the Mayor’s Housing Task Force Recommendations that were adopted by Mayor Michael B. Hancock in December 2012.

That 158-page report was prepared by Denver-based BBC Research & Consulting.

The first meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, July 17, at the
