New Town Builders, one of the Denver-area’s leading homebuilders in sustainability, opposes the Xcel proposal.

“The Xcel proposal to increase fees for homes with solar energy conflicts directly with every governmental initiative in pursuit of sustainability and energy efficiency, on all levels, from local to federal,” said Gene Myers, CEO of New Town Builders. “If approved, Xcel’s proposal will only delay solar power’s arrival as a mainstream source of energy. New Town Builders announced recently that it is making solar power a standard feature on all new single-family homes, and home buyers have responded enthusiastically; but Xcel’s action is likely to have a dampening effect.”

New Town Builders has been building homes in the Denver area since 2001, with an emphasis on energy efficiency, sustainability and neo-classical designs that recall an era when houses truly felt like homes.

On the outside, the company says it uses porches and designer colors to lend a distinctive yet traditional appearance to New Town homes. Oon the inside, technology and smart design allows New Town Builders to “future-proof” its homes.

All New Town homes receive the EnergyStar Efficiency Rating, and New Town is a member of Home Builders of Association. They offer homes in the Colorado neighborhoods of Bradburn Village (Westminster), Stapleton (Denver), Coal Creek Village (Lafayette) and Shadow Grass (Longmont).
